South East Asian Games Federation Meetimgs No. 2 (2025-2027) 15th -18th Jul 2026 In Malaysia

Preparatory Meetings for the 34th SEA Games in Malaysia to prepare for the 34th SEA Games in Malaysia, the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), as the Host National Olympic Committee, organized a series of preparatory meetings in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF). The meetings included the SEAGF Committees, the SEAGF Executive Committee, and the SEAGF Council, held at Sunway Resort Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 16–17 July 2026.

SEAGF Committees
On 16 July 2026, six SEAGF Committees convened, with representatives from the National Olympic Committee of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King participating as follows:
SEAGF Sports and Rules Committee

SEAGF Medical Committee

SEAGF Women and Sports Committee

SEAGF Arbitration Panel
- Assistant Professor Dr. Withawet Wongphem
SEAGF Broadcasting Panel
- Admiral Dr. Atinart Pajayakrit


Key Outcomes of the Sports and Rules Committee Meeting
A major agenda item was the consideration of additional sports for inclusion in the 34th SEA Games. Originally, the Games programme consisted of 38 sports. The Sports and Rules Committee reviewed appeals submitted by the National Olympic Committees of all 11 SEAGF member countries, covering a total of 30 proposed sports.
Following deliberation, the Committee approved the inclusion of five additional sports:
- Kabaddi
- DanceSport
- Teqball
- Padel
- Ice Hockey
The Committee also approved the addition of two new disciplines under existing sports:
- Chinlone under Sepak Takraw
- Polo under Equestrian
The proposals to include Cheerleading and Air Badminton as Demonstration Sports were acknowledged and will be considered at a later stage.
Another important topic was the introduction of Hydration Breaks during competition to enhance athlete welfare and safety, particularly in the hot and humid climate of Southeast Asia. The implementation of hydration breaks will be subject to the technical regulations and competition rules of each International Federation and the respective Technical Handbooks.
SEAGF Executive Committee Meeting
Following the committee meetings, the SEAGF Executive Committee convened with Dr. Chuenchanok Siriwat, representing Thailand in her capacity as Executive Member of the Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF).
The Executive Committee endorsed the recommendations submitted by all six committees, including the approval of the five additional sports and the two new disciplines, before forwarding them to the SEAGF Council for final consideration.
SEAGF Council Meeting
On 17 July 2026, the SEAGF Council, the Federation’s highest decision-making body, convened to consider and approve key matters relating to the preparation of the 34th SEA Games.
Thailand was represented by four delegates:
- Dato’Seri Chaiyapak Siriwat – Executive Board Vice Chairman and Honorary Member, SEAGF
- Admiral Chainarong Charoenrak – SEAGF Council Member
- Admiral Dr. Atinart Pajayakrit – SEAGF Council Member
- Dr. Chuenchanok Siriwat – SEAGF Council Member
The Council approved the recommendations endorsed by the Executive Committee, including the addition of the following five sports:
- Kabaddi
- DanceSport
- Teqball
- Padel
- Ice Hockey
It also approved the addition of two disciplines:
- Chinlone under Sepak Takraw
- Polo under Equestrian
Following the Council’s approval, the sports programme for the 34th SEA Games was finalized at 43 sports. No further sports will be added to the programme.
The detailed list of competition events and the technical regulations for each sport will be officially announced in September 2026.
