His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej granted Royal Patronage to the Olympic Committee of Thailand on 26 December 1949, and graciously provided the Symbol of the Olympic Committee of Thailand on 8 January 1951.

The National Olympic Committee of Thailand is one of 205 countries officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and one of 45 countries recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
